NJ Crawfish Fest Canceled Over Delta Variant Safety Concerns

Concerns surrounding the delta variant’s spread in NJ forced the Crawfish Fest held at the Sussex County Fairgrounds in Augusta to be canceled this year.

Event organizer, Michael Arnone, announced on their website that the three-day, Louisiana-themed music and food festival in Sussex County would be rescheduled. “Due to the COVID 19 Delta Variant Guidelines recently issued by the CDC and to keep everyone safe, Michael made the decision to just wait. It was not easy.“ Event planners wrote on their website. 

The original date was August 27th and was expected to bring thousands of people to enjoy the festivities. “On a hot day in August, sweaty masks most likely will be coming off.

It will be near impossible to keep people masked and at a safe distance. I did not come to this decision lightly. This is my livelihood. My number one rule has always been ‘no one gets hurt.’” Michael wrote on the Crawfish Fest’s Facebook page
