Music fest continues to help uninsured musicians

When Russellville musician Kerry Gilbert was diagnosed with cancer in 2013, his friends and colleagues in the local music scene started a fundraiser for him to help with the singer’s medical bills.

The Kerry Gilbert Music Fest is in its third year, this year raising money for musician T.J. Beasley, who is suffering from a hernia, Crohn’s disease and diabetes.


Festival organizer Jon Hamilton said many musicians don’t have health insurance, so when medial problems arise they take a toll on more than just health.
