Below are the 50 summer festivals we're most excited about, from local events like the aforementioned to international travel destinations such as ATP Iceland and Primavera Sound.

Behold Jazz Fest's Hottest New Food Items

Squeal Barbecue, praline-stuffed beignets and more to look out for at this years New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival.

Jazz Fest begins this Friday, April 24, and fair grounds food area whisperer Judy Walker takes a look at what to expect this year in terms of grub, including a kids food area overhaul, and the triumphant return of Creole Stuffed Breads and the most underrated dessert of all time—the sweet potato turnover from Marie's Sugar Dumplings—after a year off. Here now is a look at the hot newcomers at New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival 2015 via New Orleans Eater.

Seven Tips For Surviving Jazz Fest With Your Toddler

Have a basic plan, but don’t expect to see every band circled on your cubes. Navigating the crowd with a small child is difficult enough, and truthfully, sometimes the kids just want to hang out and take in the sights. Don’t try to rush from one stage to the next. You will get stressed and so will your child. Pick a stage and hang out there for a bit.

We personally love the Fais Do Do stage for the mornings. When we need a break from the heat, my kids love to get their praise on in the Gospel Tent. The Grandstands are air conditioned and offer a lot of entertainment as well. You can see cooking demonstrations and art exhibits. If you are there with a partner, rotate watching the child. This ensures that you get to see a band you want without having to bring the kid to something they might not be into.

Don't miss the New Orleans Jazz Fest; a few tips before you go

Now in its 46th year, this music and heritage festival runs two weekends (April 24-26 and April 30-May 3)...

Be prepared for heat. Bring sunscreen and a hat, or maybe one of those Mardi Gras umbrellas that people wave in parades. Just don't open it in someone's face or block their view.

Be prepared for rain. This is a humid, southern city hugging the Mississippi. The big dusty field that is the Fair Grounds Race Course muddies up once the rain comes. Leave your cute shoes at home. Nobody is looking at your feet anyway.

Bring a small chair. Sit in it until the music starts and you can't sit down. Bring a blanket to sit on if you want to, but other music fans will walk over it (and you) and you can't see the performers from down there anyway. If it rains, you've got a wet blanket to deal with.
