Mankind has been making music ever since they realized that tapping two sticks together could create an funky beat. Music gives joy, unleashes creativity, and is pinacle of our krewe's gatherings.

Researchers are exploring how music therapy can improve health outcomes among a variety of patient populations, including premature infants and people with depression and Parkinson’s disease. Music releases a chemical in the brain that has a key role in setting good moods, a study has suggested. In this study, levels of dopamine were found to be up to 9% higher when volunteers were listening to music they enjoyed.

So be sure to take time to enjoy music while you are confined in your homes. Check out some of the live streaming events, pull out your CDs, shop online and buy some new music. Fill your home with happy music to help get through Coronavirus madness.

Who knows what will come out on the other side. Some great songs came from tragedy.
